DIGITAL ARTWORK GUIDELINES
***This is important, PLEASE READ***
To make everything go nice and smooth please follow these steps .
We accept files on computer disk in Adobe Illustrator
8.0 or less
in EPS Format in Macintosh and Windows based personal computer platforms.
All art work submitted needs to be in a VECTOR image that can be trapped.
This section provides guidelines for preparing and submitting your Macintosh
and Windows based disks. If you have any questions regarding the
preparation and submission of your disk-based art files, please give
us a call. We will gladly help you prepare your disk and ensure that
your job is not delayed by incorrectly prepared files.
Giving Us Your File
We recommend that all files be sent on a Zip Disk. We will, however, accept
CD ROMs and 3 1/2" floppy disks. All art sent on floppy disks must include a
backup in case the first are unusable. Do not use compression programs to
compress your files (i.e., Stuffit, Winzip, etc.).
Printing Color Proofs
All computer disks are required to be accompanied by a color printout of the
final artwork at 25% of the original template supplied. Although many of
today's color printers have excellent detail and bright colors, they do not
provide an accurate representation of the final color piece. You need to
view a Pantone swatch book to see what the final color will look like.
Submitting Your Art Files
We include 3 hours of computer time for setup and trapping. We will contact
you if additional computer time is required to correct your files (this is
very often the case). Once your artwork is submitted, we will fax you an
Art Hour Estimate for the time required to output your job. There is a $45
charge per extra hour needed. Please note that the Aussie logo will appear
on all garments.
General Tips for Creating Your Art Files
Fonts: We maintain a large library of fonts. However, to be certain that
we match the font you desire exactly please convert fonts to outlines/paths.
Specifying & Selecting Color: Please be sure to define all colors as SPOT
Colors, not CYMK or RGB colors.
Stroke and lines: Strokes and lines must be 4pt or larger.
Trapping: Do not trap your files. We will take care of the trapping for you.
Failure to Include All Fonts With Your Work
Though we maintain a large library of fonts, there are over 20,000 different
fonts out there and we can not possibly have them all. So, please make sure
you convert your fonts to outlines, or you can authorize us to find a substitute
font at assessed additional charges.
Missing Files and Printed Artwork
Please double check your files before sending them to us. If you must link
files to your final artwork to keep the file size down, do not forget to include
them on your disk. Make sure all artwork for us to convert is included and in
a useable form. After your artwork has been assessed, no further work will
continue until all missing elements have been submitted. Resubmitted artwork
will experience delays.
Failure to Include a Color Proof
Please supply one final proof with each item. Your proof provides information
crucial to the correct production of your job. Without a proof we cannot
determine if what we see is correct. We cannot stress enough that the proof
should be generated from the exact same file you are sending us and not from
your hard drive. Any last minute edits to the file should result in new
proofs. Our default settings may not be the same as yours so without a current
proof your job may experience delays.
Image Styles
It is important that all files used to
create your final artwork are inclosed
and in VECTOR format that can be
trapped. You can supply images in the
following
formats for our artists to convert at
an assessed rate per job:
Windows Platform: EPS, GIF, JPEG, PICT,
TIFF, PDF.
Macintosh Platform: EPS ONLY.
Photostats, veloxes and clear
positives, tear sheets from other
printed materials,
photocopies (as large as possible) or
computer laser printouts.
Because our printing process is very
exact, any imperfections in the
artwork you
supply will show up on the finished
garment. All scanned and computer
traced
images saved as Vector image will NOT
be clean enough. All scanned images
need
to be HAND TRACED. But your best bet
is to give us the cleanest, clearest
artwork
you can.
